Anarchy Online - the base game is free you can choose to buy expansions if u want but they're only like $5-10 idr .. but its a sci-fi mmo with some real kool stuff in it..the graphics are quite dated compared to most mmo's these days..tho still not ''bad''...but this is from someone who grew up on pong..soo lol

Dungeon and Dragons Online - great game honestly i play mostly with rl friends and family lol as for only portions being free...you dont actually have to pay money to unlock most of the stuff available...if u earn enough favor points by grinding quests u can build up store points and unlock quests/items/features (classes and races) that way ... just takes alot longer lol lots of work but pretty fun really :)
its also kinda interesting to talk with old school dnd players about how much the game's changed over the years...since it is the oldest and most popular rpg and has inspired countless others

All rpg's since dnd that use a stat based character system are evolutions of dnd. Cause thats how epic it was XD. Hell rpg's still use "dice rolls" too determine hit miss crit status. Just cause you don't see it dont mean it aint there xD. Although a few actually tell you that dice is rolled

and yea troy i started with adnd v2 lol all the way up through 3.5...used to get drunk and play on weekends with friends...same ones i play ddo with now lol

*SMACK* no...just fucking no...Runescape is epic-shit-fail-from-hell. go to the corner, NOW!!

anyways, back to topic ^_^

I haven't tried Runes of Magic yet, but I have a friend who plays it, he says it's actually better than World of Failcraft.

as for a game for suggestion, Guild Wars is fun. not ENTIRELY free (requires a 1 time payment for any campaign), but it's free to play once you buy the campaign.

Runescape - it has unique skills and I found it a lot of fun to play (before I quit). I don't like the combat system because it's pretty much "click and wait". I still keep track of the updates they make on the game though, and play on the holiday periods.

Arcanists - being a fan of the Worms series, I like this game a lot. I can't shake the feeling that some combinations of spells are pretty cheap, though.

Gunbound - again goes back to being a fan of the worms series. Easy to play but hard to master. I like the variety this game has, but sometimes it seems too kiddy.
