Local or Lepsy, please read
« on: August 22, 2010, 01:22:28 PM »
So, I have been noticing a few problems with the ban system. This topic isnt about me, but I have noticed these problems due to the fact that as I am typing I have a ban.

So, as you know there have been a few times where admins have made bans and the ban was registered on the bansite but the player wasnt kicked and was able to continue playing, also in some instances they were able to join with an active ban. I watched all this happen with player DuckieRice, and it happened again with me.

So Friday night or early sunday morning I was banned from the servers by webban while I was playing on the servers. I minimized CSS while I was playing and was dead to take a look at the forums. I accidentaly clicked the NotDBanSite shortcut instead of NotD Home Page shortcut on my browser. I saw my name on the top of the list as being banned, and thought maybe it was someone else with my name who got banned as I was still playing on the server. I continued to play for a while, then checked my steam against the steam on the bansite and they were the same. A few hours later I disconnected from ZombieHell and reconnected as a test and sure enough the ban finally worked.

Then earlier today I tried logging into the server and was able to play, and I played for maybe an hour or two, all the while talking with Mominator and Sorrowtrying to figure out what was going on. The bansite says there is a "Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 110

SQL Query type: CONNECT
Script: '/bans/index.php'
SQL Query: 74.86.118.178
SQL Params: notddb"
when you try to connect to it, so I was unsure whether or not it was a malfunction on why I was able to play. Sorrow tried to give me a 1 minute test ban and said my name wasnt showing up on her list even though I was playing on the server. Later on, there were a few more difficulties with the admins trying to get rid of a player cussing out the admins, so they tested out the 1 minute ban again on me, this time it worked, and I tried to rejoin the servers and w/e banns I have on my name worked. The ban site is still down for w/e reason.

Basically I am trying to make you guys aware of the holes in the server and how I have somehow or another been able to play with an active ban on my steam_ID :o

It says that the player has been blocked if they are on the server and the map changes, even though they wernt blocked

hmm weird, this seems to always happen after we update something on the servers, it just takes a restart to sync the ban site with the servers.
