Should NOTD have a Ventrilo Server?

Everyone's always so negative about suggestions being posted. /:
And as to even posting replied, they only post cons, not pros about having the idea.

Should we have ventrilo? - Yes.

Agreed we had a teamspeak server up that no one used so local just took it down.

No. No one ever posted the teamspeak online for us to use. If I had info to it, i would of have used it. Aimer/L0cal always said that either one of you were setting it up, but no one ever posted the information on, so how could of we have used it?

I'd like vent cause I'm used to using it. It's be a great chance for new, regular, etc players on the servers to make friends and get to know admins, notd members, and other players.

I don't see the point of using vent while watching a movie.. I'd rather people not talk.

if we were to have ventrilo, we could always just have two separate rooms; one for talking during the movie, one for a muted but chat room <- but that's already provided in the livestream.com when the movie's is being hosted.

personally i like using vent/teamspeak it lets us have conversations even if we use voice_enable 0 if u want the voices to stop

You could play your musiccccccc with no one telling you to stop spamming

ventrillo isnt for mg or zhell the only time vent is used by css players is if there scrimming or want to cheat in pugs. i love vent but it isnt nessecary considering wed need a 100person vent for all the people that play and are in notd

Well if that happens then there should be an admin on and they'd just mute/kick/ban them from the server for ghosting if it's that annoying.

Hm...I wish i could forward my ports so that i could host a vent server without you guys having to use hamachi but.My router is being a complete bitch and wont let me forward my ports

Only Time we would need it is if several clan members play non steam games. But even then you can just make a chat group with steam and add it to your game list.

but with steam group chats it doesnt make a sound so u dont know when to look back and with every1 using there mics at once with the voice activation will get INSANE

It wouldn't just be for getting admins. It'd be for socializing and having community meetings.

ok GUYS we arent being overly negative the people saying it wont work WEVE HAD VENT NUMEROUS TIMES
it didnt work the most people i ever saw in our vent was 6 people and pretty mcuh every ACTIVE member knew about it

its just a waste of money itd be a giant minigames vent if it were to get used making it pretty much useless

the only thing i could think of it being a positive for is playing non css games like synergy borderlands w/e

and in which case itd be very useful for those of you who dont already go to seperate vents

Yeah I just think its dumb overall cause it really doesn't matter to me either way (as in I would never use it), but thats just me.

why not just get xfire? you can host a chatroom on that, and it's easy to use. and it's also free. also comes in handy to talk with friends who don't have Steam.

BOTTOM LINE: There's a lot of free alternatives that people will, without a doubt, get more out of.


Ventrilo is mainly famous for use in scrims, but outside of that it's fairly problematic and expensive.

It might not be a bad idea to use someone else's  Vent for about a week so the novelty can wear off for those who weren't around for the other dozen.


That's basically what we did with CrazyShot's Vent server..
